Clement/Malcolm (15)

As I walked quickly away I started to regret the deal I had made with Eve. Even more that I had kissed her yesterday. I shouldn’t have done that. I didn’t know what had come over me that day….I sighed and leaned against one of the many trees around this place. I slid down and held my head. I had told myself that I was over Evelynn. That day had changed everything though….making everything even more complicated. I wish I could have taken that kiss back…I shouldn’t lead her on. Make her think that I still have feelings for her. The stone wall I had taken so long to build was starting to crack. It wasn’t gone, but it was cracking enough to make me worry. I looked up as footsteps approached.

“Hey there stranger.” Eliza smiled down at me

            I sighed “Hey.”

“What’s wrong?” she asked sitting down next to me “Was Evelynn that terrible?”

“No,” I replied “I just have a lot on my mind that’s all.”

“Clement,” she smiled “We’ve known each other for how long? Come on tell me.”

I looked into her red eyes and at the scar that ran down the left side of her cheek bone “I’d rather not.” I said standing up and walked away.

In the past I would have told Eliza if I had something on my mind, but I needed to figure this out on my own, besides this kind of thing was way too personal. Plus I couldn’t tell my ex girl friend about….whatever Eve was to me. I walked along the grass and over the stone path and into the building. I walked through the many halls and passed many people. Every one of those people shared the same expressions. Fear, hatred, yet a little of respect was mixed in there somewhere deep. I bumped shoulders with someone and looked back. I didn’t know who he was but he wore a shirt with the Metallica logo on it.

“Watch where you’re going why don’t you?” he snapped at me

“Why don’t you?” I snapped back at him but continued on my way

I had heard that Malcolm had found Raphael’s pure blood. So that should be that. All this pureblood business was over. There was no Lucifer pure blood….but why did I feel like I was wrong when I said that? I didn’t know what it was but I still felt a dark feeling that this wasn’t over yet. I would have gone to see Malcolm and this pure blood but the matter of fact that Malcolm and I still hated each other made me decide not to. I would meet this pure blood soon enough. I walked to the room where I was staying and found a note on my bed.

Will you come meet me in my chamber? We need to talk.

                                                            ~Ann

I didn’t know what she wanted to talk about but ok I guess. It was strange though…my mother and I never really stopped to talk to each other. I thought about not even going but decided it might be important.

The guards opened the chamber doors and I walked into a Victorian themed room. It was bigger than the others which was expected but I could help but feel jealous of how much space there was in here. I sat in one of the chairs away from the bed and waited for my mom (that sounds weird saying). Five minutes later my mom walked into the room and sat in a chair across from me.

“Clement,” she said “I’m so glad you can make it.”

“Yah…” I said trying to figure out why I was even here in the first place

            “We need to talk though.”

“I know,” I replied “I got the note.”

            “Of course.”

We were silent for a few moments. Yah talking with a mother you barley know….is very awkward. I’d rather be with Eve right now and that was saying a lot at this point of time.

“So…why am I here again?” I asked “What did you want to talk about?”

“Michael thinks that he might know who Lucifer’s pure blood is.”

I sighed in relief. Thank god I thought she was going to go all emotional and personal on me. The thing was…how would Michael even have a guess of who this person could be?

            “How?” I asked

“Eve told Michael about her dreams and Lucas was in them.”

            “Lucas?” I questioned

Where had I heard that name before?

“He is one of Evelynn’s teachers.” She said

That’s where I know him from! I saw him at the meeting right after Malcolm and I brought Eve to the Society….then I thought back to the halls. I had also bumped into him.

“Do you guys have any proof or a lead?” I asked

            “No, nothing but Eve’s dream.”

“I see…” I tried to go over all this in my head “So what do you want me to do about it?” I asked

“The archangels will keep an eye on him, but we need more people unless we want him to get suspicious.”

“Why not just ask Malcolm?” I asked bitterly

“Because he’ll in charge of Abrianna.”

            “Who?”

“Abrianna, Raphael’s pure blood.” She said calmly

“Ah,” I replied “Why don’t we just take him aside and question Lucas then?” I asked getting back to the subject “Why waste time keeping an eye on him?”

“Because we don’t have enough proof yet Clement! I thought we just went over that!” she said and I sensed the stress in her voice. All of these events were taking a effect on her as well as everyone else.

I nodded my head and stood up “Fine, I’ll keep an eye on him.” I replied

I started to walk out of the room when she spoke “Clement?”

“Yes?” I asked as I look back

We stood there in silence “Be careful….”

“….You too.” I replied and walked out back into the hall.

I opened my eyes slowly. My head felt like I’d been kicked by a horse. I looked around and everything was a blur, but everything started to gradually become clear again. I found that I was in the infirmary. There were two nurses in the room; one was checking her clip board while the other was talking to another patient across the room. I sighed and started to sit up but the one nurse came over and pushed me gently back down.

“You shouldn’t try to push yourself so much.” The nurse said

Her black hair was in a tight bun and her lips were bright red. She looked like a Goth dressed up as a nurse to sum her look up.

“Ah, so you’re finally awake?” the other nurse turned around and gave me a small smile “Your friend has been waiting for you.”

“Where are they?” I asked the blonde nurse

“Here, I’ll go get her.” The gothic nurse said and left the room

At first I thought it would be Eve but Abrianna walked in instead. I couldn’t say I was disappointed though. I was glad to know that she was safe.

“Hey,” I smiled as I sat back up slowly (the nurse surprisingly allowed it) “You’re alive.”

She smiled “I’m glad you’re ok.”

            “Yah,” I laughed “me too.”

“Do you remember anything of the crash?” the gothic nurse asked us

“I just remember seeing a white blur,” I replied “Other than that I can’t recall anything.”

“I don’t know what it was either,” Abrianna replied “At first I thought it might have been Raphael….but when I asked him he said that it wasn’t him.”

“Hmmm,” the nurse tapped her pen against her lip “well it’s a good thing you two are on his good side then.”

“No kidding,” I muttered but then I stopped and turned to Abrianna “Wait. You talked to him?”

Embarrassment showed on her face “Yah, he kind of got us here after you passed out.”

I groaned; So much for being a good protector. Something could have happened to her and I would have been passed out not able to defend her. Stupid, stupid, stupid!

“So when can I leave?” I asked the nurse

“I just need to take a few more tests and get you some Advil before you go.”

“Ugh,” I laid my head back against my pillow “this is going to take forever.”

Abrianna smiled “Hey, be thankful a headache is all you came out with. We could be dead.”

“But we’re not,” I replied “I told you that I was telling the truth. You are special.”

“Yah, I know that now.” She replied and I smiled.Ã

After the nurse had given me a bottle of Advil I was able to leave. I was tired yes, but I didn’t want to sleep. I wanted to know what all I had missed while I was asleep. Abrianna and I walked next to each other as we went to the dining hall.

“You’re going to love the food here,” I said “It’s like a feast every night.”

“Yah.” She gave me a small smile. I knew instantly that something was wrong. “What’s wrong?” I asked as I stopped

            “It’s nothing.” She replied

“Abri,” I said “We’ve gone over this already. What’s going on?”

She seemed shocked by how I had casually used a nickname but she replied “This is just a lot to take in."

“You’ll get used to it eventually,” I replied “Come, I want you to meet somebody. Plus I’m starving.”

She laughed as I lead her down the corridors.Ã
