Zoe/Layla(10)

I had never met a more terrible sword fighter in my life. This ever so talked about Pureblood had no coordination what so ever. Fearing for her own life I started off with a large wooden sparing stick. As soon as I handed it to her she dropped it on the ground. "Okay." I started taking my own stick "Now hold it with both hands on it." She did what I showed her "Good, now when I raise my own weapon you will raise your's, tilt it to the side moving your wrist to block mine." I raised my weapon slowly demonstrating what to do. Eve did her best to block me, but if I were an actual opponent with a real weapon, she'd have been dead by now. The children I teach have more skill than her. "Not quite, let's try again." I said trying to hide my frustration. We went over this for at least twenty minutes. I could tell in Eve's eyes she was giving up. "Eve, that will be all for today."

She nodded and turned away, not saying a word. I somewhat pittied her. Rumor says she cannot even remember what had happened to her, and now she is being taught to fight. I sighed wipping the sweat from my brow. I went to one of the many fighting dummies and began to attack it as if it were a real oppenent. I released my anger on how Lucas did not show up. The Queen had demanded him to help me teach Eve, and not suprisingly he didn't show up. Not only was Luke making me angry, but my father as well. Though I am acustomed to his dislike of Luke and his opionions on what I should be really doing with my time. He believes I should be out hunting for demons like him, instead of teaching others to fight. My father hates Luke too. I've never known for sure why. He had always disliked me being friends with Luke. My father would tell me "Stay away from him. He's just trouble." or "He's a blundering fool, who will only problems to you." and so on. I've learned to just ignore him though however. Ever since my mother died five years ago my father has become a very unagreeable man.

"Am I late?"

I stopped and clenched my fist. I turned and saw Luke with his usual cocky grin on his face "I should beat you over the head! Where were you earlier? I could have really used your help! She was dreadfull!"

He laughed and shrugged "Places, and I'm really not suprised."

I yeld out in frustration "You are such and idiot! You know that right?"

"Jeeze, calm down Zoe." he said raising his hands up in defence

I rolled my eyes, I really wasn't in the mood to listen to him. "Why can't you do anything?"

"I think this is more than just me being late...." he began then stepped closer to me "Is that a bruise on your face?"

I backed away from him "Yes, I just fell that's all."

"And just managed to hit your eye?" he said, he knew I was lying.

"Yeah... It's nothing." I said

"It's not nothing Zoe," he said looking down at me "Your dad did it, didn't he? I'll kill him."

"Luke no!" I said turning away "I told you I just fell. Don't worry about it. Now I have to go. I'm going to get lunch, I'm rather hungry." I said changing the subject

Luke gave me a worried look, "I'll join you." he replied knowing that I would not tell him what really happened.~

I sat out underneath the shade of one of the large trees that surrounded the Society. This is the first time in weeks I've had time to myself. Bresal was out with some others searching for run away demons, and the Society members were inside eating their lunch. I had no idea where Clement was, and I truthfully didn't care. I am just sick of everyone! I never thought finding a bloody Pureblood would be so difficult.

I sighed and laid back in the grass. I closed my eyes and listened to breeze blow through the trees. It was nice to actually not be bothered all the time. That feeling was short lasting however. I could hear two pairs of footsteps approaching. I remained silent hoping they would just pass, but unfortunetly they didn't. "Layla, what a pleasure it is to see you again." said a terribly familur voice.

I opened one eye lid slowly to see Clement and a tall blond looking at me. I stood up brushing the grass from my back "Eliza," I said coldly "What are you doing here? I thought you were too busy running around making other peoples lives miserable."

"Tisk tisk Layla, where have your manners gone?" she said in a mocking tone

I rolled my eyes and looked at Clement "What do you want?"

"I wanted to know if you had word from Malcolm about the Pureblood." he replied

"I woudn't know. Why don't you ask your mother. I'm sure she'd know. Now if you don't mind, I would really like to return to my business." I said flatly

"You don't look busy Laylay." Eliza commented

"Don't call me that." I said, I could feel my blood begin to race

"Oh Laylay, you used to be so friendly. I guess being queen of the demons has really taken effect on you."

That's it. I wasn't going to take it any longer. I jumped at her and threw her to the ground. I saw a grin come upon her face as we wrestled on the ground. I was much stronger than her, but she was quick. As soon as I thought I had her in my grasp she had moved behind me. I could hear Clement shouting for us to stop, but I didn't care. I've never liked Eliza, not since the day she walked into our demon relm many years ago. What Clement ever saw in her I still don't know. From behind me I felt someone grab me around waist. Clement likewise grabbed Eliza. I looked back and saw Bresal there. He turned me around to look into his eyes "Don't forget what Velia told you."

My body was shaking with anger. All I wanted to do was through Eliza into a tree."Layla, listen to me."

I sighed and took a deep breath. When I regained my thought I turned to look at Eliza and Clement. I brushed the hair from my face "Bresal and I will be going." Bresal nodded placing his hand around my waist. "Bye Laylay. Hope to see you soon." Eliza yelled as we walked away. I almost stopped to turn back, but Bresal kept his arm around me forcing me to continue.

Once far enough away we stopped and Bresal asked "Why do you two hate each other so?"

"Well you may not believe it but we were friends at one time. Before you came to our relm, we were like sisters." I began

"What happened?" he asked

I cleared my throut "When we were 15 we were sent on our first mission. We were to seek out one of the runaways, we thought it be simple. It wasn't however, my father had failed to tell us the run away was a fire demon. Neither Eliza nor I knew how to defeat him. We tried to fight as best we could but he was too much for us. I had been hit down with a powerfull bolt and fell to the ground. I could barely stay conscience from the blow. The last thing I remember seeing was Eliza's feet running away as fast as possible. When I had finally woken up it was the next day. The fire demon and Eliza were long gone. Eliza left me to die! When I returned back to the relm I found out she lied, saying that I had run off getting myself lost, and that she could not find me and because of me the fire demon got away. I was a total laughing stock of the demons. My father was so disapointed in me that I was lashed in fron of all the demons to see. Eliza was one of them, she watched as I was whipped for something I never did."

"That is horrid." Bresal replied in, shock putting his arm around my shoulder

"That is why I dispise her. I was glad the day she left. I thought I would be rid of her for good. Obviously not however. She is nothing more than a coward and a liar."~

I've decided my post for layla are always better than the others.
