Layla(16)

I was patrolling the boundary of the Society to watch for other demons. It's nice to be alone. It always is, I guess it's in my nature. I scanned the area for anything abnormal. A snap of a twig behind me made me jump back and prepare for attack. "Someone's jumpy." A terrible familiar voice said

"Eliza, what do you want?" I growled as she approached me

"Can't I just come see my friend?" She asked curling her around her finger

"What friend?" I replied coldly

"Oh don't be that way Laylay. What happened to the good old times?"

"The good times went away when you ran away leaving me to die and lying making me look like a total fool!"

"Oh yes, that..." she said looking away

"Yes that. Now if you don't mind I'm busy." I said sharply

She got a hurt look on her face for a moment then changed to anger "How typical Layla, always shutting out the ones you need most." she said circling me.

I glared at her "I don't need you. I never did, and I never, will."

"No, maybe not. I know someone who did though. Your dear Bresal, oh he did dote on me when he first came to the realm."

"Shut up Eliza." I warned

"He couldn't stop watching me. When Clement wasn't around he was a good companion. Very good."

"I mean it Eliza," I growled

"Then when he realized I'd never take him as a mate he went for you, and that was only because your father was king."

My breaths were becoming shallow. I couldn't let her get in my head. "Oh Laylay, poor naive Laylay." she taunted still circling me "Or should I saw Queen Laylay."

That was it, no more calm Layla. When she didn't expect it I grabbed her and threw her as hard as possible against the nearest tree. I walked toward her, she laid there breathing heavily. From behind I heard footsteps approaching, I turned still keeping an eye on Eliza. It was Bresal, he gave me serious look then saw Eliza laying on the ground. "What did you do to her Layla?' he asked kneeling down towards her

"She made me angry, and I wasn't going to put up with it." I said shortly

"What happened to controlling your anger?" he asked with frustration "She's out cold!"

I gave him a angry glare "Well if you care so much for her why don't you take care of her! I'm sure you'd rather be with her anyways!" I yelled realizing I shouldn't have said that

Bresal stood up and walk towards me "What are you talking about?" He exclaimed

"Oh as if you don't know!"

"You and her? When you first came to the my realm, when you told me you wanted me, but truly you only wanted her! Then when you realized you'd never get her, so you went for me because I was the kings daughter."

Bresal gave me a hurt expression, proving that I was right. "Layla, just let me explain,"

"No! I don't care." I yelled and ran away as fast as possible. I could hear Bresal calling after me, but I didn't care. I don't care anymore! I stopped when I reached a small stream. I panted for breath and sat on a small rock. I wrapped my arms around my legs and watched my reflection ripple in the water. I shouldn't have these kind of emotions. I shouldn't be running away like a little girl. "You're weak Layla. I'm ashamed." My father's voice echoed in my head. "No, no, no! I am not weak!" I could fell the tears running down my face now. I was weak, I am a terrible queen, Clement would have been a better leader than me.

"Layla is that you?" a voice called out

I didn't reply, I just sat and kept watching my reflection. Another reflection appeared above mine. Bresal's reflection. "Layla talk to me please." I continued to ignore him. He knelt down and put a hand on my tear streaked face. "What happened between me and Eliza was along time ago. I chose you though Layla, not Eliza. Will you please say something?"

"Go away." I whispered

He gave me a grief filled look but nodded and disappeared. Eliza's words rang though my head You always shut out the ones you need most. Because that's what I am. A heartless monster.~

After the fight I tried to find Bresal. I was just so angry before I couldn't think straight. I couldn't find him anywhere. When I finally gave up I went into the Society. I entered the large hall full of laughter and happiness. However when I entered everyone became silent. I rolled my eyes they act as if I'm going to go on a rampage and kill all of them. I grabbed a bagel from the table with food on it.

I went to the opposite side of the room and sat at one of the empty tables. I chewed on my bagel, not really tasting it as I swallowed. I looked up and saw Clement approaching me. "Layla? What are you doing?"

"Eating obviously."

He rolled his eyes and sat across from me. "So what did you do to Eliza?"

"How did I know you'd ask that..." I said slightly annoyed

"Well I found her pretty beat up when I went looking for you. You really threw her into that tree! Was it really necessary?"

"Dam it! Does anyone care to hear my side of the story? Or is she the most important person around?" I yelled standing up. I saw everyone give me weary eyes.

Clement placed his sandwich down "Layla calm down."

I glared at him and walked off, leaving the remains of my bagel on the table. I walked down the corridors to head to my room. I was staying in. I shoved past a guy in my way "Hey demon watch where the hell you're going!" he yelled at me. It was the one who was supposed to train Evelynn. Lucas, that's that jerk of a kids name. His hair looks like stuck a fork into an electrical socket.

I ignored his comment. Knowing if I really want I could snap his tiny neck. Once I entered my room I closed the door and locked it. I didn't want to see anyone or be around anyone. I laid on the hard lumpy bed. I felt a piece of paper under my pillow. It was a letter addressed to me. I opened it and read

I told you so. I knew you'd push him away like everyone else in your life. Now look what you've done. You've run him off. Maybe he'll come crawling back to me. I wouldn't mind having a new toy to play with.
