Eve(20)

I stood and watched Clement walk away. Tears flooded down my face. I wished I could go back and remember everything. The way Clement spoke to me made me feel like dying. The look on his face while he talked at me felt like a slap across my face. I could hear people beginning to come outside, I really didn't feel like seeing anyone or hearing the whispers.

I walked quickly towards the forest. I knew it would be a bad idea to go by myself. I entered the forest anyways. I loved the smell of the pine trees. The Society's forest felt so much different than the one at home. The one at home was so full of life, birds singing and small animals running to and fro. Here though, all of that was gone. No singing, no happiness. The forest was completely silent. I decided to just keep walking until the sun would begin to fall. No one would miss me anyways. I walked on sadly, thinking how when I was at home I would be walking with my companion Aqua or riding Glory. For all I know, I may never see them again. I shook my head trying to push past that.

After walking for nearly an hour I stopped to looked back. I had walked at least three miles. I looked up towards the sky. The sun was almost above the trees. Eve head back the Society now. Michael's words said. It was the first time he'd spoken to me since our last practice

Why? I questioned

Don't question me. It's not safe out there. he said

I thought for a moment and looked back. I knew I should go back. I just didn't want to face anyone. Eve, now!

Don't worry, I'll be back in a while. I tried to reassure.

From ahead of me I heard someone talking. Michael said something to me, but I ignored him. I continued walking towards the voice. Eve stop Michael said. I continued to walk forward. Michael's order still going through my head. I stopped walking and hid myself behind a tree. A tall man with blond hair stood by himself. I squinted my eyes to get a better look. Lucas? What was he doing out here by himself? Eve please turn around and head back. Leave him alone. Michael begged

"Leave me alone!" Lucas cried out

I almost thought he was talking to me, but Lucas was arguing with himself it seemed like. I began to turn around and head back when I made one bad move. A twig on the ground snapped loudly under my foot. I heard Lucas stop talking "Who's there? Show yourself!"

I looked back and prayed he would not see me. My luck was not in my favor though. "I see you!" he yelled "Turn around!"

Not wanting to anger him more, I slowly turned around. A angry look came over Lucas's face "You! What the hell are you doing here?"

"I was just walking, and I heard someone talking." I replied. My legs were shaking.

Just back away Eve. Michael said. I did what he told me

"This is all your fault you know!" Lucas said approaching me

"Lucas just calm down." I said raising my hands

The closer he got to me, the more I could see he wasn't in his right mind. His eyes were a dark purple with hints of red in them. "Lucas stop." I begged

He pinned me up against a tree "Please Lucas."

Then suddenly his eyes returned to their regular color. He gave me an odd look then fell to the ground. I knelt down beside him. He was still breathing, he only passed out. I could use your help now Michael. I said

"I'm here." he said from behind me, making me jump.

I stood up and looked at Michael, who was wearing his usual dark suit. "What happened to him?"

"I cannot tell you Eve. We need to get back to the Society though." He closed his eyes as if in deep thought "Eve, place your hand on Lucas and close your eyes and think of the Society."

"But why?"I asked

"Just do as I tell you for once Evelynn." He said sighing

I put my hand on Lucas's shoulder and thought of the Society. A bright light emerged us, when I opened my eyes again I was standing in front of the Society, Lucas was laying on the ground and Michael was standing beside me.

Everyone who was outside stopped and watched us. I saw Zoe run up to us. "What happened to him?"

I explained to her what had happened, as some of the others picked him up and took him to the infirmary. She gave me a surprised look. "I can't believe it."

In the crowd of people watching us I could see Clement's as one of the them. I looked once at Zoe and said "I have to go." and went to the Society. I really didn't want to see his face.~
