Clement/Malcolm (27)

Layla? Layla!
“Shit.” I cursed and opened my eyes
“What? Is she ok?” Bresal asked
“I don’t know…” I replied
“Well did she tell you where she is?” He asked in frustration
All day I had been hearing his stupid whining about if Layla was ok and that he was responsible for letting her go by herself. I got so close to hitting him twice. What Layla had told me didn’t give me any closure either. What could have compelled her to go by herself. Yes I was worried but no I didn’t ramble on about it like Mr. Worry pants next to me. I knew she was fine (even though she was with rogue demons). I would know if she wasn’t.
“No she didn’t, but she’s fine Bresal,” I replied “She can take care of herself.”
“Do you even care that she’s in danger?!” He snapped
I laughed “I’m worried about the people she’s around. Trust me she wouldn’t be the one in danger they would.”
“Shut up Clement.” He said pushing past me
“What did I say?”
I sighed and went in search for my mother. I walked to her chamber but the guards stopped me.
“You have an appointment?” they asked
I glared at them “She’s my mother, I don’t need one. Besides it’s urgent.”
“Just tell us and we’ll let her know.” The guard on my left said
“and if you two don’t get out of the way then I’ll make you.” I growled
At that moment my mother stepped out and looked up “Clement, there you are I was just coming to look for you. I need to talk to you.”
The guards stepped aside as I followed her into the chamber.
“Layla’s missing,” I replied “I’d like permission to bring some of your people to help me.”
She was silent for a moment but then shook her head “I’m sorry Clement but I can’t.”
“What do you mean you can’t?” I snapped
“My people wouldn’t like it very much if I sent out our hunters to go in search for the demon queen while we have a bigger threat on the lose.”
I stopped “You said bigger threat…you think my sister is a threat?”
“No, Clement I didn’t mean it like that.”
“Yes, you did!” I snapped “Mom she’s my sister!”
“She’s a demon!” She snapped back “I will not waste my men on the damned. I have other things to worry about as it is.”
“I can’t believe this,” I said softly “I’m as much of a demon as she!”
“No, you’re not. You’re only half…” I noticed how her bottom lip quivered
We were silent for a few minutes “Is that why you never came after me?”
“What?”
“You could have sent your men to come bring me back….but you didn’t.”
“Clement….I couldn’t. You wouldn’t have fit in…I didn’t want a life of loneliness for you. It was better for you to be with your own kind. ”
“All my life…I had to imagine what it would be like to live with you. A life where I didn’t have to worry about if I’d live to the next day. All the missions that he sent me on? I almost didn’t because I wasn’t fast enough or I wasn’t strong enough. I had to work twice as hard as the other students. You say I wouldn’t have belonged here. I didn’t belong there. I don’t belong fricken anywhere! I would have been as must of an outcast here as I was there!”
            “Clement…” my mom said sadly
“Forget it,” I snapped “I’m sorry I wasn’t the son you always wanted.”
            “I never said that.”
“You didn’t have to.” I pushed the doors opened and walked back down the hall
I walked down to my room where I found Eliza laying on the bed.
“What are you doing?” She asked as I started to pack my weapons and clothes
“I’m going to go find my sister and Luke.” I replied flatly
            “Clement..”
I didn’t listen just packed everything rougher and faster.
            “Clement.” She said again
I was breathing hard as my movements became faster and faster.
“Clement.” She repeated
“What?!” I snapped and stopped as our lips locked
This time I didn’t pull back…if Eve could kiss Malcolm then I could kiss Eliza. Besides I was to hurt by my mother’s words and my heartbreak to care about what was wrong and what was right at that moment. We continued kissing as I moved my bag off the bed. I kissed her neck I used to and she chuckled. I stopped and looked at her and smiled.
“What’s so funny?” I smirked
“I’ve just missed you so much.” She replied lifting her head up and we connected again
She slid her hands under my shirt as I kissed her again. We were so close I could hear her heartbeat. It was fast like every other demon (Every second a human’s heart beats a demon’s beats twice). She closed her eyes and smiled.
“I love you Bresal….”
I stopped. Bresal?
I pushed away and looked at her “Bresal? What do you mean Bresal?”
Her eyes widened and she looked away not answering.
I was getting “Eliza,” I said trying to keep calm but she wouldn’t look at me “Eliza! Why did you say Bresal?”
Still no answer. I scowled in disgust and got off the bed.
“I’m going to kill him.” I growled as I pulled my shirt back on
“Clement don’t!” She cried grabbing my arm as I pulled on my shirt
I was already out the door though and stalking down the hall. I appeared outside where I saw Bresal waking towards the woods.
“Bresal!” I called out angrily
He turned around and looked back “What? Finally decided to come help me look for your sister?”
I balled my hands up into fists. I was standing a few feet from him one second and then the next my fist connected with his jaw. He flew back but stopped himself from going any further.
“Are you insane?!” he yelled
“How could you!” I yelled “You knew she was mine!”
His eyes widened “So you found out…” he said softly
“Yah,” I growled “and now you’re going to face the consequences Bresal. One rule and one rule only; never go after another’s mate.”
“Why would you care what I did then?” he snapped “I thought you cared for Evelynn now?”
“Don’t you dare bring her into this!” I snapped “You betrayed me…that I get, but my sister? Sometimes Bresal I wonder why you and your thick head is still alive.”
He dropped his bag and came at me then. He drove me into the ground but I kicked him off and turned around to face him.
“Eliza was only with you because you were next in line.” He growled
“She was only with you because she was bored.” I growled back
We ran towards each other and appeared on top of one of the Great hall tables right when other people were eating. They screamed and fell off their seats and backed up. He slammed his fist against my jaw and I pushed him off making him slam into a wall and creating an indent. He got up easily and slammed me into the floor. My vision went blurry. He picked me up and threw me across the room. I slammed into one of the tables my head flying back and hitting the wood hard. I got up stumbling and came at him again but he pinned me down as if I was just a child.
“Clement stop!” he snapped “This is stupid. Can’t we just settle this like normal people?”
“We aren’t normal people asshole.” I snapped
“Clement!” I heard someone yell but I didn’t pay attention
I pushed Bresal off and glared at him. Then next second I slammed him against the floor and was choking him. I felt someone try to pull me off and I turned around to hit them but stopped. My hand was inches from Eve’s cheek. She looked at me like I was Lucifer himself.
“Clement….” She whispered “Calm down…”
My body shacked but I felt myself calm down a little bit, but then I saw Bresal and went for him again. Eve stepped out in front of me before I could reach him.
“Eve…” I growled “Get out of the way.”
“No,” she replied “not until you calm down.”
I glared at her. How could she think that she could just tell me what to do?
“Eve I swear to god if you don’t get out of the way….”
“You wouldn’t hurt me.” she replied quickly
“Wouldn’t I?” I questioned “I tried to before, why wouldn’t I now?”
“You were compelled then.”
“Does it matter? Get out of the way Evelynn.”
“No.”
“Evelynn.”
“No Clement.”
I looked at her and then up at Bresal. No matter how much I hated him at that moment or how angry I was…I couldn’t risk letting Eve get hurt, no matter what she did. Like I said before it didn’t matter what my relationship was with her…as long as we had one.
“You won’t be so lucky next time.” I growled at Bresal and walked off

When I saw her running after him I had tried to grab her but she pulled away. When I saw Clement turn on her time had seemed to freeze. After he walk off though I was able to breathe again. I ran to her and hugged her tightly.
“Don’t ever do that again…” I said
“I couldn’t help it….I-I didn’t want someone to get hurt.”
I pulled back and looked at her “Eve, you almost got hurt. What if he hadn’t stopped before he did? You know how hard that slap would have been? He’s dangerous Eve. You can’t just go running after him like that.”
“He’s my friend Malcolm…I had to.”
I sighed and hugged her again “I know…I just don’t want you to get hurt. I don’t know what I’d do if he hurt you.”
“Clement wouldn’t hurt me.” She pulled back glaring at me
“He’s a demon Eve…if he gets mad enough he will.”
“Well he didn’t so I’m fine.” she snapped
“Eve….just try to listen ok? I know he’s your friend, but if I see him try to hurt you again don’t expect me to just stand there and watch.”
She looked down “I know….I just wish I knew what happened.”
“I know,” I replied “Bresal must have done something pretty bad to get Clement that pissed off…”
I looked over at Bresal who was rubbing the back of his neck. Also guards had finally come in and started asking what had happened.
I looked over at the doorway and saw the she-demon known as Eliza smiling. She wasn’t looking over at me so she didn’t notice that I was looking at her.
“Malcolm?” Eve asked looking at me “What’s wrong?”
I looked down at her “Nothing…
“Maybe I should go find Clement and see what happened…”
“No,” I replied “Just leave him alone for a little while to let him think. In the mean time let’s go find Abrianna and Zoe. I’m sure they’re around here somewhere.”
“Ok…” she noddedÃ
