Zoe/Layla(26)

Zoe:
"Luke! Luke are you there?" I yelled into my phone. When I got no reply I cursed; I knew I should have went with him. I threw my phone onto my bed with irritation. Luke can't let Lucifer out. He just can't! The fait of man kind is on the line. (Wow that sounded cheesy) If Luke does release Lucifer it would be all my fault. I couldn't have watched him die in front of me though. If anyone learned I was the one who helped Lucas escape I would be exiled for sure. If Luke releases Lucifer first though I guess it wouldn't matter. I knew why Lucas was debating to release Lucifer, he believed it would save Gemma. She hadn't improved since she collapsed. I visited her early this morning and the nurses said she hadn't changed at all. She had looked so peaceful on the small white bed, as if she were having a good dream and she'd wake up at any minute. I left her sadly feeling that I was useless to her.

I left my room, needing to go outside to get away. As I walked down the hall I heard the Archangels speaking to each other. I slowed my pace to hear what they were speaking of. I saw Eve standing beside Michael. "Isn't there something you can do for her? I mean you are the most powerful archangel." Eve said looking at Michael.

His face showed no emotion as he replied "Eve, Lucifer is strong, and getting stronger by the day."

"Please Michael!" She begged "She's only a young girl!" She turned to the other two brothers "The three of you should be able to do something!"

The brothers all looked at one another. Raphael spoke first "Eve, I will do my best to help the girl."

Gabriel nodded "Yes, we'll do as much as possible."

Michael, still with no emotion said "Eve, we will go to her, but do not expect anything. Our brother's type of magic is strong."

Eve merely nodded with a sad expression. When the angels walked off she looked up, "Please help her." She then began to walk my way when someone called her name. I decided to continue on before I was noticed. I knew Eve was talking about Gemma. I just prayed that the archangels could help her.

While I was passing the library I heard someone yell my name. I looked back and saw one of the younger Society members "Zoe! You must go to the Queen's chamber at once!" The boy yelled

"Collin? What happened?"I asked with concern

"It's your father.~

I stood in the Queen's chamber as she spoke softly to me "I am sorry Zoe to tell you this. You know your father was sent to find Lucas. He and the others successfully did find him, but when they were about to get him, he and the others had been brutally attacked by unknown enemies, the survivors did not know who they were."

"Survivors? You mean some were killed?" I asked not looking into Ann's eyes

She placed a hand on my shoulder "Yes Zoe."

"My father was one of them?" I said as just a whisper

I looked into her blue eyes and saw heartbreak "Yes Zoe, when they found him he was barely hanging on to life."

I didn't know if I should cry or be happy. I had been tortured by my father since my mother died. All my life I'd have to live with his anger, but he was my father. The only one I had left... "Did he say anything?"

Ann nodded "Yes, he said "Tell Zoe I'm sorry.""

I felt my lower lip quiver. I tried to blink back the tears that began to come. Ann removed her hand "It's okay to cry. It does not show weakness."

I think it was the first time I had cried since my mother died. I knew I shouldn't cry in front of the Queen. I couldn't fight the tears. I stood in the Queen's arms and cried away the past 10 years.~

I sat in my room the rest of the night. I left the Queen's chamber quickly after our talk. I was embarrassed to have opened myself to her like that. That was the first time in a long time I actually felt peaceful though. The Queen seemed to have a way of doing that. I didn't go to dinner, not wanting to see anyone. I couldn't help but think of what my dad had said. Was he truly sorry? A pain of agony hit me for thinking that. I wondered if Luke had anything to do with his death. Another wave of guilt hit me, I shouldn't think like that. Luke and my dad always hated each other. Was my dad right about him? Was he bad and would get me in trouble? Yes... No, no, no. Luke was my best friend we always looked out for each other. I thought about the time we first met. We weren't always friends. He had been brought to the Society with his sister after one of the demon hunters found them. Luke never explained to me what had happened, only that his parent's had died. I never really asked about it. My mother had just passed away the year before so I could understand how Luke felt. Unlike Gemma who seemed to instantly feel at home here, Luke had other thoughts. He tried to run away multiple times, but he was brought back every time. Everyone had stayed away from him, me included. He seemed like he might attack someone. Though the more I got to know him, the better friends we became. Soon everyone referred to us as "Zoe and Luke" or "Lucas and Zoe".

I stared out my small window and stared at the almost full moon and sighed, wondering were Lucas could possible be right now.~

Layla:
Gedeon dragged me into his 'lair'. Which was really a small dark old abandoned house. The inside of the house smelt of mold and dirt. In the first room we entered a large group of demons sat on the old couches and chairs. They all stood up as they saw Gedeon. Their black eyes boring into me. "Calm down." Gedeon growled "It's only I and the demon queen Layla."

The demons exchanged looks with each other. An ugly demon woman with frizzy black hair that stuck out every where. "Oh she would taste great."

"Silence." He ordered taking me towards a back room. The woman stepped back with the group and mumbled something about Geodeon ruining everything.

He lead me through the dark house so we was far enough away from the others. He stopped and put his arms around me, pinning me against the wall. "I really don't want to kill you Layla." he began "I am in a very good mood. I think I will let you live."

"What's the catch?"

He smirked and leaned towards me ear"Well if you be my mate."

"I would have to decline your offer." I replied returning his grin "You could torture me all you want, but that would never make me accept your offer. Especially to someone as repulsive as you."

He laughed "You've always had an attitude. I like that."

I wished Bresal was here now. I glared at Gedeon "I have my own mate thank you! Now if you don't mind you should get away from me right now."
"Layla, my temper is short. You should feel honored."
I rolled my eyes "Why are you even trying? You know I will never agree. I am not a murdering monster who kills for pleasure."
He chuckled "Layla, if you would just accept me you would like this life."
An idea hit me then. I looked over and saw a window, I knew if I could get away from him I could make my get away. I placed my hand on his chest and changed my tone of voice "Well, Gedoen, you do put up a good offer."
A look of suprise showed on his face.
I grinned at him "Oh come now Gedoen. You don't want to hurt my feelings to do you?"
He smiled "I knew you'd agree with me." He began to lean his head towards me. I knew that was my chance. I spit in his eye and hit him with my knee. He cursed and fell back. I ran to the window, it was locked. I cursed and looked back. Gedoen was walking towards me. His hands were balled. I punched the window cutting my arm while doing so. I began to hop out of the window, I felt Gedoen's cold fingers grab my hair. He pulled back into the house and slammed me through the wall. The last thing I remember seeing was Gedoen staring down at me "I always win Layla. Always."~
When I woke up I was laying in a cold dark room only lit with a a few candles. I sat up quickly and cursed. My arm hurt like hell and my body was sore. I scanned the room, a tall figure stood in the corner. "Lucas?" I asked in shock
"Wondered when you'd wake up." He replied walking towards me
"Why are you here? Shouldn't you be at the Society?" I asked slowly standing up
"Shouldn't I be asking you the same?"
I rolled my eyes "I was on strict business. What can you say for yourself?"
He shrugged "Wanted to get away."
I could tell he was lying. When I was going to argue the door opened. A tall curly haired blonde walked in. "Eliza." I growled.
She grinned "Gedeon told me you were here."
"What are you doing here?" I asked coldly
"That doesn't concern you. It does however concern," she turned her gaze to Lucas "you."
"I don't think so demon." He said
She laughed "Oh silly human." She said closing the door behind her. "Don't even think of escaping Layla. The other's are outside the door."
"Stay away from me." he warned
"I need you though. Your body is very important."
"Eliza no." I said. I knew she wanted to use his body to get somewhere. The Society.
"Don't touch me demon." Lucas continued to say
Eliza had him cornered up to the wall. I began to approach her when I felt an arm on my shoulder. I looked back and saw the ugly woman that I saw earlier. I tried to pull away from her, but I knew it was to late. When I looked back I saw Lucas's eyes change color. "I told you to not touch me." he growled. His eyes had turned a dark maroon color. Eliza cried out in pain as she fell back. The woman holding my arm let go and fled into the shadows. Eliza crawled away quickly, I could see the fear in her eyes. When I looked back at Lucas he was laying on the ground out cold.
I stared at him, what the hell happened?~
What seemed like hours went by. Lucas was still out cold, he would occasionally yell, but nothing more. I sat and wrapped my arms around my knees. I knew I shouldn't have come on my own. I wondered where Bresal was right now.
Where are you? I heard
Clement? I thought, I almost coulnd't have been happier to hear his voice.
Who else would it be? Now where are you? Bresal's loosing his mind.
I don't know where I am. I was captured by a rouge group of demons. Lucas is here as well.
Lucas? What's he doing? How'd he get there? Did he say how he got there? And rouge demons?
Mr. twenty questions, that doesn't matter right now.
The door suddenly opened breaking our connection. I jumped to my feet and prepared for whoever it would be. I was shocked at who I saw "Briathos?"
He nodded and looked at Lucas. "Come on, the demons are gone, I'll get him."
I couldn't have been happier to see an angel.~
Once out of the house we quickly made our way out of the city. Lucas had finally woken up and was now walking silently between Briathos and I. "How did you find us?" I asked Briathos
"Michael sent me to search for Lucas." He replied as we entered the forest
We walked in silece for awhile "We should sleep here for tonight." Briathos said
I didn't argue.
Briathos took the first shift at watch, while Lucas and I slept. When I laid down on the ground my eyes instantly fell and I was asleep instantly. Lucas laid on the across from me and Briathos disapeared into the darkness. I knew he wouldn't leave though. I hadn't seen him since the battle, ever since Drop died...
I was woken by Briathos saying my name. I opened my eyes "What is it?"
"Lucas, he's gone."
"Damn it. " I cursed. Why do humans have to be so difficult.
